In celebration of our 10th Anniversary this year, we pay tribute to the British influence on our region’s history and lifestyle with world-renowned designer and style icon, India Hicks. As daughter of Lady Pamela Hicks and famed interior designer, David Hicks, India’s style blends her aristocratic British roots with a relaxed island lifestyle.

Presented by the The National Society of The Colonial Dames of America in the State of Georgia, a 501C3 charitable organization, this event supports the ongoing preservation of two of the City’s prominent historic houses, the Andrew Low House Museum and The Green-Meldrim House.

 

Andrew Low House Museum Tours and the Green-Meldrim House Tours March 5-7

Guests will enjoy exclusive tours of the Andrew Low House Museum, Thursday March 5 -Saturday, March 7 during normal business hours.

Join us for an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour, March 6, 2:00-3:00 of the beautifully preserved 1848 historic house located in Savannah’s National Landmark District. Enjoy new insights and hear captivating stories about the family, including ghost tales not shared during regular public tours. You’ll also have the opportunity to explore the home’s servants’ area as well as the elegantly restored bedrooms, formal parlour, and garden.

Green-Meldrim House Tours March 5-7

Guests will enjoy exclusive tours of the Green-Meldrim House and learn about Charles Green and his English Victorian connections, Thursday March 5 -Saturday, March 7 during normal business hours.

Join us for an intimate reception at the Harper Fowlkes House with India Hicks featuring signature cocktails made with her husband, David Flint Wood’s,         Idle Assembly brand of rum. The evening will feature hors d’oeuvres and live tropical island inspired background music.

The dancing continues this year with live music featuring some of India Hicks’s favorite music from Caribbean Island tunes to upbeat popular.

Join India Hicks for her presentation on “British Roots and Island Style” where she will be sharing stories of her mother, Lady Pamela Hicks, and also her elegant yet relaxed island lifestyle. The presentation will be held in the Amethyst Ballroom at the JW Marriott followed by a rooftop luncheon at Myrtle & Rose overlooking the Savannah River.

India will be signing her latest book, Lady Pamela, as well as her lifestyle books, Island Style, and A Slice of England at the Luncheon.

Private Home Tour and Reception

Saturday, March 7, 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.

For years, private residents have opened their homes for exclusive tours.  This year, Leslie and James (Jim) Durham will host us in their historic mansion located in Savannah’s celebrated Victorian District, at 121 East Gwinnett Street.  Known as the Mary Hammond House, it was built in 1879, designed by the renowned architect William Preston Gibbons, who is also famous for designing the Savannah Cotton Exchange.
