Celebrate Savannah’s rich architectural and interior design history during the Fourth Annual Savannah Antiques and Architecture Weekend. This year’s theme,”Down by the Riverside”, focuses on Savannah’s Port and its history “From Cobblestones to Containers.”
Kicking off the Weekend, a special Reception and Tour of the spectacular new Plant Riverside District will be hosted by its visionary developer, luxury hotelier Richard Kessler. The Weekend’s exciting events include historians and acclaimed speakers to enchant you as well as Celebrity Antique appraisers to help you discover “What’s In Your Attic?”. A special treat this year is the fabulous Lunch and Learn Riverboat Cruise on the “Georgia Queen”complete with a brass Dixieland Band!
Topping off the Weekend is the glittering Gala honoring our Sponsors, Speakers, Appraisers and Patrons. Held in the elegant surroundings of the mansion of cotton merchant, Charles Green, you will enjoy a visible example of the wealth created through the port in Green’s day. The National Society of The Colonial Dames of America in the State of Georgia, a 501c3 non-profit organization, proudly presents this event for the benefit of the Andrew Low and Green-Meldrim Historic Houses.
March 5: Opening Reception Tour and Cocktails, JW Marriott Savannah, Plant Riverside District

Developer Owner, Richard Kessler and Architect, Christian Sottile will Host and Tour you through this remarkable addition to Savannah’s skyline. Their vision and creative re-use of this immense space is overwhelming!
Now a new vibrant entertainment destination, The Plant Riverside District has transformed the historic 100 year old Savannah Electric and Power Plant into an amazing JW Mariott Hotel, entertainment, and retail district. Adding a quarter-mile of river walk, The District has greatly expanded the west end of River Street. Cocktail party guests will toast to its opening and tour this visionary architectural masterpiece with its brilliant developer and hotelier, Richard Kessler, and renowned architect Christian Sottile.
March 6: Southern Hospitality with Susan Sully
The Hyatt Regency is the perfect location for this elegant luncheon as its expansive views showcase our Port where the art of welcoming visitors began and has grown into the dynamic hospitality industry you see today. Celebrated author, Susan Sully, an authority on Southern architecture and design, will speak on a favorite topic and the title of her latest book,“Southern Hospitality at Home, The Art of Gracious Living” Sully’s book features four of Savannah’s most welcoming homes and looks at Southern architecture through the lens of the region’s fabled hospitality. Susan is particularly passionate about the distinct regional culture and architecture of the South. She has authored 18 books about architecture and design. A graduate of Yale University Susan’s work can be seen in The New York Times, Town & Country Travel, Veranda, Southern Accents, Southern Living, among others. She lives in Charleston, South Carolina.
Sully will join us that evening for an exclusive cocktail reception and tour of a stunning home featured in her book.
Friday Afternoon Event: The Annual Madeira Luncheon, Noon

March 7: Cruise Aboard “The Georgia Queen”
11:30 AM – 2:30 PM, River Street Landing
A Dixieland Band will entertain you on a spectacular Savannah River Cruise as you lunch on delicious Southern fare and learn about the history of Savannah’s port. Savannah’s most popular educator, Roger Smith, has consistently enthralled enthusiastic audiences with his amazing range of lecture topics and creative travel series.
His vast knowledge of our city and love of its history will be evident as he entertains you aboard the Georgia Queen with the history of our port from “Cobblestones to Containers”.
