Lunch & Learn Lecture
Enjoy a Southern box lunch with dramatic presentations:
Susan Arden-Joly, Green-Meldrim House Preservationist
Follow the fascinating story of a five-year quest to return to Savannah from France over 150 furnishings original to the Green-Meldrim House, after their exile of more than a century in the Parisian home of the celebrated author, Julian Green. Ms. Arden-Joly will display a selection from these treasures, which were present in the Charles Green home at the time of the visits of the great Civil War Generals Robert E. Lee and William Tecumseh Sherman.
Stephen Bohlin, Director of the Andrew Low House
Discover the glamorous history of an exquisite piece of antique jewelry from the Andrew Low House Collection. Mr. Bohlin will reveal the intriguing story of its famous owners, its Savannah family, and its amazing French connection.
Amanda Everard, renowned celebrity appraiser, will bring her expertise to assess the current market value of these historic pieces.
11:30 – 1:30
Location: Cranmer Hall
27 West Charlton St. (at the corner of Whitaker & Charlton)
Travel in style with Old Town Trolleys between private tours of The Andrew Low and Green-Meldrim museum houses and learn about the prominent architect, John Norris, who designed both noble houses. The tour will also pass by several fine examples of his work along the way. Knowledgeable docents will guide you through the splendid interiors and entertain you with little-known connections between these houses and the families who occupied them. The spectacular sanctuary of St. John’s Church will be an added attraction, as it is a glorious example of the Gothic Revival architecture of its day.
